Jan "Hutch" Hutchins
 

Hutch is the founder and owner of the Yoga Center of Los Gatos. He has been involved with bodywork, consciousness and yoga for more than 30 years.  His uplifting spirit, healing energy, sense of humour and attention to individual needs make his classes a great experience. His classes are based on Raja Yoga in the Sivananda lineage and the Dynamic Yoga of Godfrey Devereux.  A Yale graduate, Hutch had several careers prior to opening the Yoga Center in April of 2001. For 20 years he was a television journalist in the Bay Area. He's run Community PR for the San Francisco Giants, produced Emmy award winning children's television programs and held numerous public service positions including serving as Mayor of Los Gatos. He is active as an elder in the ManKind Project (mkp.org).

 

Kristina Bergner
 

Kristina Bergner knew early in life what she wanted to do. She has been a dancer and gymnast since age 3. She also played school with her dolls and her younger playmates, and grew up to be an elementary school teacher. She has taught children of all ages, from toddlers to teens, in both public & private schools all over the country, from Massachusetts to Hawaii. She holds a Master’s Degree of Education from Harvard and an American Montessori Certificate. She is now a Head Teacher & Youth Yoga Instructor at Rainbow Montessori School in Sunnyvale. Kristina has been practicing yoga for 10 years and has been teaching yoga to children for 5 years. She has energy & enthusiasm to share!


Daniella Cotreau
 

Daniella has been involved in the healing arts and alternative medicine since 1997. She received her formal yoga teacher training at the Mount Madonna Center in the Traditional Ashtanga style yoga as taught by Baba Hari Dass. Her yogic background also includes Pranayama, Iyengar and a strong emphasis on Vinyasa together creating a style in and of itself.
Fire dance performer, Massage Practitioner, and Natural Health Educator, Daniella's passion for teaching yoga comes from her desire to inspire a deep connection to ones' body, spirit and community. She comes from a place of treating the body as sacred, as our temple, our souls' vehicle in which to navigate on the physical plane. In her classes, she brings awareness of "being" and inspirations through poetry that we are limitless in our potential of what we choose to create.

 

Liz Gabbani
 

Liz graduated from Mills College in 1996 with her Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance. Upon graduation, she performed with 2 local modern dance companies including Janlyn Dance Company and Margaret Wingrove Dance Company. She has been teaching fitness, yoga and movement classes throughout the Bay area in both the Corporate and Private Studio setting. Currently, she teaches at Cisco Systems, IBM, Evergreen Community College, Los Gatos Yoga Center, and Gold's Gym. Her Yoga classes combine a unique flavor of dance, vinyasa (flow) and power.

 

Holly Thomas
 

Holly comes to the Yoga Center with a passion for consciousness and healing at the cellular level. She is an avid reader of books that seek to bridge an understanding of science and spirituality. Holly is currently a HeartMath® Provider of stress intervention and peak performance techniques. She studied Raja Yoga at Ananda Village where she learned traditional Vedic Philosophy and Patanjali’s Eight Limbed Path (Ashtanga Yoga) and spent a year and a half in University of Santa Monica’s, Spiritual Psychology Program. She recently moved from Southern California where she owned and taught in a dance academy for twelve years. Holly’s passion is to help others to learn to re-wire their nervous system for JOY . . . whether it’s through the body (yoga), the mind (meditation), or the heart (HeartMath@).


Trevor Taylor
 

Trevor moved to the Bay area in 2000 and continued teaching and training at various locations. In 2002 he met Sherry Han and trained with her for the past 7 years.

He met Arkady Shirin in 2006 and began weekly training with him. This work has had a profound effect on Trevor’s approach to the practice. Gaining an unprecedented insight and a new found respect for the subtle details and dance-like qualities of the yoga practice. Trevor incorporates spiral movements into his flow to make transitions easier as well as coordinated movements to keep the mind focused.

Trevor has been a student of African Drum and Dance as well as Soaring Crane Chi Gong. He is certified in several forms of bodywork including Acupressure, Shiatsu, Thai and Jin Shin Jitsu. It is the culmination of the last 15 years of training that brings a wealth of information for students to explore as they form their own experience of the healing arts.

 

Savoy Stevens
 

Savoy encourages her students to pause, take time to separate themselves from the chaos of the day, and experience their true nature. As an artist and a dancer, she is aware of the profound connection between spirit and creation, and hopes that in the yoga studio her students will observe this connection as well. Originally an elementary and high-school art teacher, Savoy relishes teaching yoga because "everyone does what you tell them to, and no one eats paste! " Her eclectic teaching style is informed by many contemporary systems of hatha yoga including Iyengar, Ananda, and Ashtanga. She is particularly inspired by the teachings of Yoga Center founder Jan Hutchins. Savoy loves to see her students leave the studio calm, centered, and aware. Her classes provide a balance of inspiration and perspiration facilitated by the use of flowing asana, breath awareness, and restorative poses.

 

Helga McHugh
 

Helga started practicing yoga with her mother when she was just 3 years old. Now, after almost 30 years of practice, yoga has become an integral part of Helga'slife. Studying at UC Santa Cruz afforded Helga the opportunity to delve further into her yoga practice, surrounded by the majesty of the redwoods. After completing a Master's Degree from SFSU, Helga taught Foreign Languages for many years. After giving birth to her first child, Helga realized that she wanted to share the benefits of yoga with others, especially those aspects that facilitate labor. With extensive training in Integral Yoga, Helga is a certified Yoga Instructor. After the birth of her second child, Helga continued her training to become certified with Whole Birth Yoga Resources as well. Helga enjoys incorporating humor into her classes. Teaching children's and pre-natal yoga helps keep her youthful spirit vibrant. Helga's passion for teaching and yoga is evident in all of her classes.

 

 

Jill Sly
 

Jill Sly began practicing yoga 10 years in San Francisco and has had the opportunity to practice with a variety of teachers and studios across the US and around the world. She is originally from the east coast, received her bachelors degree in Psychology from Dickinson College, and had her Yoga Teacher Training education from Kripalu Yoga Institute in the Berkshire mountains of Massachussets. She finds her inspiration from the self-awakening yoga style of Don Stapleton, Ph.D. who is director of the Nosara Yoga Instiute in Costa Rica. Her classes include centering techniques, pratapana, asanas, pranayama, and relaxation. Jill believes in leading classes in a way to promote individuals' self awareness; whether it's a gentle hatha class or a vigoreous vinyasa flow.

 

Chandala Shiva
 

Chandala is a Certified Tantric Hatha Yoga and Sadhana Instructor through her Guru Kali Ma in the MahaSiddha Dharma Lineage. Having a background in dance and having taught dance to 4th and 5th grade students, she has always been interested in the movement of the body and the state which it brings forth. Her classes include asanas, meditation and pranayama to bring awareness and healing to the body, mind and spirit.
Chandala has had great success in healing her own body and mind through Yoga and Ayurveda (yogic medicine) and delights in sharing this with others. She is also a Pancha Karma Techninician Assistant, Apprentice of Ayurveda, full-time Dharma Student and Mother of a radiant daughter.

 

Angela Gavin
 

Angela discovered yoga over ten years ago and found the practice to be incredibly healing and transformative. In addition to being a yoga instructor she is a Marriage, Family Therapist Intern. Her masters degree in counseling psychology has reinforced her learning around the therapeutic benefits of yoga. As a teacher Angela hopes to heal, empower and inspire others on their own journey. Her classes are dedicated to the practice of balance, awareness and compassion. Angela's website:

Aruna Shiva
 

Aruna Rigdzin has been teaching and studying yoga for the past seven years throughout California. She is certified as an Advanced Hatha Yoga Teacher, as a Panchakarma Technician, as a Meditation Instructor and Yoga Therapist. She incorporates her personal passion for the joy of healing and embodiment into all of her classes. Originally, she was introduced to Yoga in womb by her mother who practiced Ashtanga Yoga and since being re-introduced to Yoga as an adult; she has dedicated her life to teaching people the practices of Yoga. Aruna is also initiated as a Yogini in the tradition of the MahaSiddhas by her teacher Kali Ma Troma Rinpoche.

 

Camella Nair
 

Camella Nair is a certified Yoga Instructor who has been practicing yoga for the past 25 years and teaching for 5. She has traveled, studied and taught in India and England as well as in the States.  She currently teaches a range of classes from vinyasa, thru aqua yoga, pre natal and meditation and is a mentor to teachers in training.  She is a direct disciple in the Kriya lineage which goes back through her Guru Enoch Dasa Giri and Parmahansa Yogananda, and is an ordained Swami within the Temple of Kriya Yoga in Chicago. She volunteers at a local hospice and has a passion for chanting and kirtan.
